Program

During this week-long retreat we will learn and progress carefully through the practices of Open level  Yantra Yoga which corresponds to the Book Tibetan Yoga of Movement, see details from this link.

Tibetan Yoga of Movement: The Art and Practice of Yantra Yoga

The course is appropriate for people with little or no previous experience, as well as for people with an established practice that wish to understand and apply yantra yoga appropriate for their unique condition. Ultimately it will be the participant’s needs and capacity that will also have some influence on the course structure.

There will be a course program sent out to everyone taking part including a diagnostic questionnaire, physical assessment and background notes.

Student centred approach to practice

Everyone comes to the mat with an  individual mix of elements with their corresponding types and capacity,                    i.e. both, an individual constitution and a present physiological state.

When we practice yoga we may notice a wide range of difficulties linked to:

Age, body types, injuries, muscles condition (tight, stiff, weak or lax), improper functioning of major organs etc. as              well as imbalances of a more subtle quality such as with moods and emotions, blockages of the channels   meridians or prana.

Participants will be taught how to adjust and modify their practice according to their 5 elements, 3 humours and any presenting health problems.

The course is adapted from a successful advanced retreat program that has been running for a few years in the UK retreat centre Kunselling. And it is grounded in John’s many years of experience in practicing Chinese Medicine, teaching yoga and his interest in Tibetan and Ayurvedic medicine. Also informed by western medicine and neuroscience, to help us understand how yoga pranayama and meditation can positively influence and benefit ourselves.
